Hey everyone, Erik Rivera here. Last night was AMAZING! We did it! All the people, celebrities, families & groups that came down to the Smart Power Lab in Times Square these last 2 months, made the lighting of the 2010 numerals possible.
I got down to Times Square around 5:45 pm and the festivities were in full swing. Millions of people were already gathered around the stages and spanned from 42nd Street to 59th Street for the World Famous New Year’s Eve Ball Drop. There was an electricity in the air and I’m not just saying that because Duracell was a part of it… the people were excited to be a part of this event.
The performances began at 8 pm and shortly thereafter so did the snow/rain/sleet… but it didn’t matter. The people weren’t going to let a little precipitation get in the way of a GOOD TIME! They kept on partying until midnight.
At 10:15 pm I found myself on top of 1 Times Square where the World Famous Ball Drop takes place, to do an interview with the Times Square Alliance LiveStream co-hosts. It was a fun time to spread the word of all the great things we did at the Smart Power Lab and to thank all the people who came down and supported.
I’m not going to lie – once the countdown began, I got gooseb**ps and even more so when I saw the lighting of the 2010! It was an experience I’ll never forget, not only because of all the great people I met but because I know that my pedaling helped us reach our goal. Happy New Year!
